Below Is A Basic Explanation Of The Mechanism Of Why The Upper Neck Has Been Shown To Cause Meniere’s / Dizziness / Vertigo
The experiences of my own patients and thousands of doctors across the country show that there is no doubt that NUCCA chiropractic significantly helps patients with these symptoms… the question is HOW?
The Problem: Dizziness, Vertigo and Meniere’s disease are symptoms that occur when one or more areas of the inner ear or subsequent nerve pathways to the brain are not functioning properly. The inner ear is what allows us to hear and stay balanced.
The Pathway: Below is a diagram that shows the pathway of sound and balance processing.
- When we hear or move (balance), it is detected by your inner ear creating a nerve signal
- That signal is sent through the vestibulocochlear nerve (carries sound & balance)
- That signal goes into the UPPER NECK
- That signal then goes into the Midbrain
- That signal ends in the part of the brain that processes sound or balance
The Mechanism: The most accepted mechanism is a mechanical issue like a Chiropractic Subluxation, in the area of the UPPER NECK, where signals traveling on their way to the brain may be interfered with, resulting in symptoms. A Chiropractic Subluxation is a misalignment between the upper neck bones and skull that mechanically affects the upper neck nerves. Getting this corrected, removes the interference, restoring proper function, thus getting rid of the symptoms. This is what we are experts at correcting.
